Caribbean Cooking Vacations
Caribbean food features a mélange of cuisines blending spices, flavors and cooking techniques from Chinese, African, Spanish and French influences. Each of these flavors were brought to the Caribbean by new settlers and have been fused into Caribbean dishes. Those who experience a culinary tour in the Caribbean are definitely in for a treat, from flavorful jerked dishes to more signature cooking styles of the islands. Jerked seasonings, well-known in countries outside of the Caribbean and often applied to pork and chicken as a dry rub, offer unique and tasty flavors to a diversity of meat dishes. Goat and chicken with curry sauce are predominant cuisines in the Anglophone Caribbean Islands, Barbados, Bahamas, and Antigua and Barbuda twin-islands. Tomato-based goat stew with papaya, breadfruit, and goat and dumplings are a signature dish on Saint Kitts and Nevis islands, as well as the national dish of the Montserrat.
Thanks to the diverse cultures calling the Caribbean home, the islands feature various cuisine cooking styles and flavors. The islands also enjoy seafood in many of their dishes, from flying fish in the Barbados to cascadura fish in Trinidad and Tobago to cornmeal coo-coo, or saltfish Accra. Culinary tours across the Caribbean offer cooking enthusiasts a chance to experience bold and savory spices, as well as a diverse blend of cultures in a concentrated area.
